Hi folks,
Thought you’d like to know Piggy Pat’s BBQ is going local. Not loco...local! We are trying to supply our restaurant with as many products produced within 100 miles as possible. We are searching out ORGANIC,GRASS-FED,PASTURED, HORMONE –FREE, ANTIBIOTIC FREE and products that we know where they come from.
The implications of buying local are many. Besides having a positive impact on our environment it has an equally positive impact on our financial environment. For the last 20 years or so Piggy Pat’s has been supported by local people. I’ve yet to have the presidents of Tyson foods or Budweiser beer stop in for some BBQ and a beer. By supporting each other we strengthen our Central NY community.
Over the next few months we will be adding a local farmers store right in Piggy Pat’s. This summer we will have farmers markets in the parking lot…just products from our area, no” local” bananas, avocados or oranges.
Here’s a list of what we’ve got so far, all local:
Grass-fed beef
Pastured Pork antibiotic-free, hormone free.
Artisan Cheeses from milk with no BST/rBGH or antibiotics
Organic grass-fed yogurt
Aquaponic greens
Heidelberg breads with NYS wheat
Salsas and jams
We’ve added several craft beers with a new tap system; Saranac, Saranac White IPA, McSorleys, Lake Placid Winter lager all produced by Matt Brewing, aka Utica Club Brewery, West End Brewery, FX Matt Brewery. You get the idea. Right here in Utica, N.Y.

Jefferson Co. sheriffs write all reports by hand and the data is later entered by a computer tech. One theft report stated the farmer had lost 2025 pigs. The tech suspecting an error called the farmer herself.
“Is it true Mr. Winkler that you lost 2025 pigs?”
“Yeth” lisped the farmer.
Being a local girl herself the tech entered, “subject lost 2 sows and 25 pigs.”
