I haven't done one of these newsletters in awhile, but I'm so excited about the upcoming presidential election, I can't stand it. I must admit, I was a bit disappointed to hear Obama picked Joe Biden for his running mate. I felt a better pick would have been a senator from Hawaii named Daniel Akaka. Think of the bumpersticker... OBAMA/AKAKA...Oh, well! On Friday Aug. 29th @ 6pm, we are having a fundraiser for leukemia featuring from Syracuse the WORLD CHAMPION IRISH DANCERS (6th in Dublin). Chelsea Hurley, a 23 year old mother, has leukemia and is a friend of the girls. They will be dancing in her honor. There will be no cover charge but the girls will "pass the hat" after dancing and all the proceeds will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The evening is called DANCING FOR A FRIEND. Live music will be provided by THE BLARNEY REBEL BAND. ACCENTS OF IRELAND will help out with an item to be raffled off. We will be offeering our famous SMOKED CORNED BEEF (I'll be keeping the proceeds from that, thank you very much). So come on in for a great time: Great BBQ, Irish Dancers, Irish Music, Irish Beer and maybe even some Irish People. Think of it as "The 'Not As Great' American Irish Festival!"
